That’ll always be disputed, of course, but there’s no team that can compete with the Red Sox’ history. The franchise dates back to 1901, when they were known as the Boston Americans. They changed over to the Red Sox in 1907, they boast the oldest ballpark in baseball and they continue to serve as a Boston institution, a team fully ingrained in families throughout New England and beyond.
