Ben Affleck and Matt Damon may be trying to make a movie that embarrasses the Yankees, but that doesn't mean they can't be poker buddies with a member of the Bronx Bombers.
According to a report by RadarOnline, Alex Rodriguez played in an illegal, high-stakes poker ring with a list of celebrities that included Affleck, Damon, Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire.
Reports of the celebrity poker ring surfaced a week ago, but A-Rod's involvement wasn't reported until Friday.
Star Magazine also reports that "drugs and prostitutes played a part in the top-secret games."
Rodriguez has been warned in the past to avoid playing underground poker. In 2005, the Yankees and MLB commissioner Bud Selig kept a close watch on Rodriguez after they discovered he had been playing in a New York poker club.
"I was surprised to see just how good a poker player Alex is," Adam Bilzerian, a poker player who claims to have seen Rodriguez play, said in the report. "A-Rod won a bunch of money."
Rodriguez is currently in the fourth season of a 10-year deal that pays him an average of $27.5 million annually. He ranked at No. 49 on Forbes' Celebrity 100 list. DiCaprio ranked No. 15.
As noted by the report, "it's illegal to play for money at underground poker clubs, although it is a crime rarely prosecuted."
