Report: Kevin Durant Close to Signing Deal to Star in Warner Bros. Film Kevin Durant could be on his way to being the next Jesus Shuttlesworth, Stacey Patton or Butch McRae.

Those are the names of the characters played by Ray Allen in He Got Game, Malik Sealy in Eddie and Anfernee Hardaway in Blue Chips, respectively. Durant was close to finalizing a deal to star in a major motion picture, The Oklahoman reported Sunday.

The deal reportedly is with Warner Bros. and the movie will have a basketball subplot, although there were no further details.

Basketball players acting in major films have a mixed track record. Allen was great for an amateur in certain scenes in Spike Lee's He Got Game, and when he stumbled, he had Denzel Washington to lean on. Sealy did not have the same buffer in Eddie, although Whoopi Goldberg was entertaining, as always.

Hardaway, Shaquille O'Neal and Indiana star Matt Nover combined with Nick Nolte for a surprisingly believable and reliably watchable story about corruption in college basketball in Blue Chips. Neon Boudeaux, played by Shaq, belongs on any list of the greatest movie character athletes of all time.
