The Bruins will make their home preseason debut Friday night at the Garden when the New York Islanders come to town, and Boston will have both its captain and last year's Conn Smythe winner in the lineup.

Zdeno Chara and Tim Thomas are both scheduled to dress in Friday's game after not making the trip to Ottawa for Wednesday's exhibition opener. The Bruins lost that contest 2-1 to the Senators in overtime despite 34 saves from Tuukka Rask, but will have a few more key members of last year's Stanley Cup-winning roster in the lineup for the home folks in this one.

In addition to Chara and Thomas, David Krejci, Milan Lucic, Brad Marchand, Rich Peverley, Daniel Paille, Johnny Boychuk and Dennis Seidenberg will all make their preseason debuts, while Patrice Bergeron will play his second game.

Garden fans will also get their first look at newcomer Benoit Pouliot. Young prospects Jared Knight, Alexander Khokhlachev and Lane MacDermid, who scored Boston's lone goal in Ottawa, are also scheduled to play. MacDermid also scored in Tuesday's Black and White Game in Providence, while Khokhlachev, the youngest player in camp who just turned 18 on Sept. 9, had two goals in that scrimmage.

The full roster scheduled to participate in Friday's game:

Forwards — Jamie Arniel, Patrice Bergeron, Zach Hamill, Alexander Khokhlachev, Jared Knight, David Krejci, Milan Lucic, Lane MacDermid, Brad Marchand, Daniel Paille, Rich Peverley, Benoit Pouliot

Defensemen — Matt Bartkowski, Johnny Boychuk, Zdeno Chara, Steven Kampfer, Zach McKelvie, Dennis Seidenberg

Goaltenders — Anton Khudobin, Tim Thomas
