The Penn State wide receivers won't have their position coach on the sidelines on Saturday, or the rest of the year for that matter, after Mike McQueary was placed on administrative leave by the university.

The players did, however, get a chance to speak with the embattled assistant coach on Friday apparently.

The Patriot-News reports that McQueary was able to speak to his wideouts via conference call on Friday to give an update on his status. He was originally pulled from work Saturday for safety concerns in the fallout of his alleged role as a witness in the Jerry Sandusky case. On Friday, he was placed on administrative leave.

"I wanted to let you guys know I'm not your coach anymore," McQueary told his players, according to the report. "I'm done."

The coach also told his players that he was in protective custody outside of State College, Pa.

Deadspin has another interesting tidbit from McQueary's conference call with his players cited from the Patriot-News report that appears to now be gone from the original report.

According to Deadspin, again citing a Patriot-News report, McQueary also told his players he was "double-fisting it," or having two drinks at once.
