Song is certain the New York Red Bulls forward can make a contribution to the Arsenal cause, according to Sky Sports.
“When I see him training, I am teasing him: ‘You could still play with us, you know?’ But he has never replied and just smiled,” Song said to French newspaper L’Equipe.
“What he achieved during his career is just amazing. He has nothing more to prove in football.
“Today he has the opportunity to give us a help. A player with such stature, such potential. He would bring us a lot.”
Henry has been practicing with Arsenal since mid-November. There are reports that Arsene Wenger would like Henry to join the Gunners on loan during the MLS offseason, but it’s not the Arsenal manager’s decision to make.
Henry is under contract with MLS, and both the Red Bulls and Henry himself would need to agree to a loan deal for the veteran to appear in competitive games for Arsenal.
That’s where Song comes in. The 24-year-old Cameroonian could persuade the veteran attacker to raise the issue with New York.
Henry is an Arsenal legend. He led the Gunners to glory from 1999-2007, appearing in 370 games and scoring a club record 226 goals. Arsenal recently unveiled a bronze statue of his likeness at the Emirates Stadium as part of its 125th anniversary celebrations.
