The first Red Sox Road Trip will take place long before the season begins.

Mike Aviles, Ryan Lavarnway and Red Sox alumni are scheduled to take part in a three-day, six-state tour through New England on Jan. 20-22.

Ticket vouchers for the 2012 regular season will be distributed at each stop during the tour, allowing fans the opportunity to purchase tickets in advance of the general ticket onsale date, which is set for Saturday, Jan. 28 at 10 a.m. The vouchers — valid for four regular-season tickets at Fenway Park — must be redeemed online at redsox.com during the presale window specified on the voucher.

The Road Trip will make stops in Freeport, Maine; South Burlington, Vt.; Manchester, N.H.; Farmington, Conn.; Providence, R.I.; and Marlborough, Mass.

Bob Stanley, Dennis "Oil Can" Boyd, Sam Horn, Rich Gedman and Bill Monbouquette are among the participating Red Sox alumni.

The 2012 Red Sox Road Trip presented by Coca-Cola will also feature the second annual "Sing Your Way to Fenway" contest, during which fans of all ages will have the opportunity to audition to perform the national anthem at Fenway Park. The first 100 fans at each stop will be guaranteed the opportunity to audition, with additional attendees to be viewed based on time constraints.

Also, one lucky fan from each state who visits a Red Sox Road Trip tour stop will be selected as a grand prize winner for the Red Sox Road Trip VIP Experience. That experience includes a pregame VIP tour of Fenway and four tickets to a game on the winner's State Day at the ballpark. Fans can register at each tour stop location, and the winner will be randomly selected and notified via phone.

The regular season is still a few months away, but it's never too early to start thinking baseball.
