The offsides rule in soccer is really not all that complicated: An attacking player has to be even with or behind a defender when the ball is last touched by a teammate.

OK, maybe it is a little complicated.

Fortunately, the Royal Mint has the perfect way to explain the rule. A new 50-pence piece as part of the London 2012 Olympic Games edition seeks to explain offsides on the “tails” side of the coin.
