Is Opening Day Your Favorite Sports Holiday of the Year? It's Opening Day in Boston, which means the city is alive with baseball once again while another season of Red Sox baseball gets underway.

This season isn't just any other year, though, since Fenway Park is celebrating its 100th anniversary and all of the history that comes along with it.

While your office may not recognize it as such, every Boston sports fan knows that the Red Sox home opener counts as a holiday when it comes to the sports calendar. However, there is no shortage of sports holidays that fans relish year-round.

Opening Day rings in a new year of baseball, but New Year's Day itself has become quite the sports spectacle recently. With the glut of college football bowl games along with the Winter Classic, it's certainly a memorable date to enjoy lounging around and working off a headache from the previous night's shenanigans.

Later in the year comes Super Bowl Sunday, an obvious holiday around the world that draws millions of people around the TV sets. Christmas, of course, has its annual slate of NBA games while the NFL claims Thanksgiving for its own. And how could we forget the first day of the NCAA Tournament in March?

Bostonians will also know that Patriot's Day — a.k.a. Marathon Monday — holds a special place in the hearts of many, with the Boston Marathon shutting down the city for a day of celebration. Of course, there's a Red Sox game that day, too.

Which sports holiday is your favorite?
