Jarrod Saltalamacchia-Justin Verlander Matchup One of Power Versus PowerEditor's note: The temperature gauge is a Bill James-created statistic that measures how hot or cold hitters are. We will spotlight Red Sox and opposing team temperatures on game days.

Justin Verlander is the best power pitcher in baseball right now, putting together another Cy Young caliber season. He'll look to continue his dominance when he takes the mound against Daniel Bard and the Red Sox on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, although Boston catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia doesn't have an All-Star pedigree just yet, it might not be long before he does, as his resume is getting more and more impressive with each game.

Salty went deep for the second time in three games during a 7-4 win on Monday, showing that he's one of the game's most dangerous offensive backstops. He now has nine blasts on the season, so it'll be an intense showdown if and when he squares off with Verlander, who tops 100 mph on the radar gun.
