It looks like Dylan Bundy is coming to the big leagues this year after all.
The Baltimore Orioles pitching prospect will be recalled to the big club on Wednesday and will join the team in Seattle, according to FOXSports.com.
The O's have said all along that they hadn't planned on calling up the No. 4 pick of the 2011 draft. However, Baltimore's pitching staff is taxed after going 18 innings on Tuesday night against the Mariners. Baltimore manager Buck Showalter was forced to use seven relievers in the marathon, which the O's ended up winning.
According to the FOXSports.com report, Bundy, who learned of his promotion at 4 a.m. on Wednesday morning, will work in a "limited relief role" with the big league team.
The 19-year-old just finished his first full season of professional baseball. He went 9-3 in 23 starts over three different levels of the Baltimore organization. He struck 119 batters in just 103 2/3 innings, with a WHIP of 0.916.
Bundy was sent to the instructional league following the conclusion of his minor league season, and that's where he was pitching at the time of the reported call-up.
Balitmore enters play on Wednesday in a virtual tie for first place in the AL East with the Yankees.
