Report: Geno Smith Impressed Jets After Spending Private Time With New York During West Virginia Pro Day

Geno SmithThe Jets may start stockpiling quarterbacks like Bill Belichick likes to do with tight ends.

New York came away impressed after spending private time with Geno Smith at the West Virginia pro day, according to Senior personnel executive Terry Bradway and offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg were on hand to watch and talk to Smith in Morgantown, W. Va.

The Jets hold the No. 9 pick in the 2013 NFL draft. It’s looking more an more unlikely that Smith falls out of the top 5 with reported interest from the Jaguars and Raiders. The Bills recently worked out the former Mountaineer as well. Buffalo picks at No. 8.

The Jets already have Mark Sanchez, David Garrard, Tim Tebow, Greg McElroy and Matt Simms on their roster at quarterback. It’s unlikely New York would be willing to trade up for Smith, but it’s the Jets, so who knows.
