New England Patriots fans got excited Wednesday afternoon when Boston Barstool Sports posted a picture of Darrelle Revis at Logan International Airport.
They hoped the star cornerback, who became a free agent when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers released him earlier in the day, was on his way to Foxboro to negotiate a contract.
But all that excitement quickly disappeared when it was confirmed that the picture of Revis at Logan was photoshopped. The original photo was taken from a February 2010 Boston Globe story.
The doctored picture prompted many more photoshopped versions to hit the Twittersphere, and the hashtag #FakeRevisSightings also was born.

Maybe Revis was in the area, because a few hours later, he agreed to a one-year, $12 million deal with the Patriots, per Adam Schefter.
