Jaguars Trade Blaine Gabbert To 49ers For Sixth-Round Pick

The San Francisco 49ers have acquired quarterback Blaine Gabbert from the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for a sixth-round pick, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports, citing sources.

Gabbert, who was the 10th overall pick of the 2011 draft, struggled mightily with his play and with injuries during his three seasons in Jacksonville. The quarterback compiled a 5-22 record as a starter with the Jags, throwing for 22 touchdowns and 24 interceptions during his tenure with the team.

Last season, Gabbert started only three games and completed 48.8 percent of his passes with one touchdown and seven interceptions.

Gabbert figures to compete for a backup role behind Colin Kaepernick in San Francisco.

Update: The Jaguars have since confirmed the deal, with more details about the terms as well.
