Golf is not exactly a fast-paced game, as competitors often have to exercise great patience to achieve success.

Scott Langley took patience to a whole different level at the Memorial Tournament on Sunday.

Looking at a chance for birdie on the 16th hole, Langley putted a ball that curled around the hole and came to a rest at the rim, where it stayed. And stayed. And stayed.

After a full 23 seconds — which must have felt like an eternity for Langley — the ball finally moved ever so slightly and dropped into the cup.

The painful delay allowed Langley to walk toward the hole and have a full conversation with Bubba Watson, who was also marveling at the delicately balancing ball.

The miraculous putt may have saved Langley a stroke, but it did not save him the round. The 25-year-old Missouri native finished the tournament tied for 28th at 4-under, while Japanese golfer Hideki Matsuyama took home the trophy after a one-hole playoff.
