Cam Atkinson opened the NHL preseason the right way, scoring two goals Sunday in the Columbus Blue Jackets’ 4-3 win over the Carolina Hurricanes.

The Boston College product’s first goal beat Cam Ward high glove-side off a breakaway pass from Mark Letestu at 14:41 of the first period.

Atkinson also had the Jackets’ final goal of the game, beating rookie goalie Alex Nedeljkovic off a pass from veteran winger Nick Foligno.

Foligno and Mike Hoeffel, who is at camp on a tryout basis, also scored for the Columbus.
