Last week was a rough one for NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, and one group used the big stage that is NFL Sunday to get one more dig in at the league’s top executive.

Goodell has been under fire for a week now as issues centering around domestic violence and child abuse have taken center stage. The commissioner was criticized for his handling of the Ray Rice situation, and that was exposed further after reports surfaced that seemed to contradict the league’s words and actions in regards to Rice.

Women’s right group UltraViolet — whose mission is to “fight sexism and expand women’s rights, from politics and government to media and pop culture” — is calling for Goodell to walk away.

The group staged a protest of sorts Sunday afternoon prior to the game between the New York Giants and the Arizona Cardinals. A plane with a banner reading “#GoodellMustGo” could be seen above MetLife Stadium before the game.

UltraViolet also has a petition calling for Goodell’s resignation on its website.

“The commissioner of the NFL, Roger Goodell, has been caught in a despicable and disgusting lie and he must resign,” it reads.

“Resign immediately. Your failure to take domestic violence seriously is outrageous.”
