Adrian PetersonAdrian Peterson’s future with the Minnesota Vikings is uncertain, but don’t expect the team to release the running back.

Peterson is in very hot water after being indicted on child abuse charges Friday afternoon. The All-Pro was deactivated prior to Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots, and it’s unclear what’s next for him.

The New York Post reported Sunday, though, that the Vikings could still move Peterson, depending on how everything shakes out. The Post reported that the Vikings are unlikely to release Peterson, but there’s still a chance the team trades him.

While the Post’s Bart Hubbuch pointed out that a trade is a “long-shot possibility,” he makes it clear that there still is chance a Peterson is dealt.

Of course, the Vikings have to let the legal system play out, too. Peterson could still serve jail time, and it’s unclear how that would affect the Vikes’ plans with Peterson moving forward.

The New York Post also reported that Vikings owners don’t expect the NFL to discipline Peterson unless he is convicted.
