Brett Favre: ‘I Don’t Really Care’ If Peyton Manning Breaks My TD Record

Brett FavreIt appears Brett Favre’s excitement has been replaced with apathy. Or maybe he just wants everyone to leave him alone so he can wear his Wrangler jeans in peace.

Two weeks ago, the NFL’s all-time touchdown passes leader said he couldn’t be happier that Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning was going to break Favre’s record of 508 TD tosses. Favre was asked the same question Sunday on NFL Network’s “NFL GameDay Morning” and gave a similar, if slightly more annoyed, response.

“I don’t really care to be honest with you, and I mean that with no disrespect,” Favre said, via NFL.com. “I think the world of Peyton. I’m not surprised that he’s going to break it.”

Manning has 506 TD passes, so there’s a very good chance he’ll tie or break Favre’s record on “Sunday Night Football” against the San Francisco 49ers. Of course, it’s more than likely the former Green Bay Packers star cares a lot about his record — who wants to see their record broken? — but hiding that fact seems like a better strategy than saying he hopes Manning fails epically.

Favre also was asked if Manning breaking his record has anything to do with the new pass-happy NFL. Once again, though, the 45-year-old didn’t take the bait.

“Well, it is a little more prolific today, but I don’t want to take anything away from what he’s done,” Favre said.
