Victor CruzThe New York Giants suffered two big losses Sunday night.

One of those losses came on the scoreboard in an embarrassing 27-0 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. The other loss — perhaps even more discouraging — came in the form of an injury to wide receiver Victor Cruz.

Cruz fell awkwardly while attempting to catch a pass in the end zone during the third quarter and crashed to the ground in obvious pain. The wideout left the game with an apparent serious injury, and the Giants revealed later that Cruz suffered a torn patellar tendon. Cruz will likely miss the rest of the season.

“Huge loss,” Giants coach Tom Coughlin told reporters after the game, according to The Associated Press. “It wasn’t a good situation, a grim scene.”

Cruz, who was a Pro Bowl selection in 2012, was enjoying a decent season. He was averaging 14.7 yards per catch and had scored one touchdown this season before going down with the injury.
