Roger GoodellIt’s hard to forget how badly NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has bungled things in the last few months. Though many have called for his ouster, Goodell still sits at the helm of the NFL despite his utter failure in punishing Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice for committing domestic violence.

It’s a mystery to most as to how Goodell still has his job, but according to former Patriots linebacker Matt Chatham, the devil is in the details. Chatham slammed Goodell in his most recent column on FootballByFootball.com, and shed some light on the inner workings of the situation.

“When everything in the world says Roger Goodell should clearly receive some sort of immediate punishment for doing his job poorly but he doesn’t, it isn’t because there aren’t owners who believe he deserves punishment,” Chatham writes. “It’s simply because they don’t have the terms in their agreement with Goodell to support the punishment he deserves.”
