Travis IshikawaThe walk-off hit is one of sports’ most exhilarating moments, and when it happens in October, it’s something fans cherish for generations.

Travis Ishikawa gave San Francisco Giants fans a memory they’ll never forget when he hit a three-run homer to win the National League pennant. The hit, along with Joe Buck’s call, reminded everyone of another walk-off blast from the past — Bobby Thomson’s “Shot Heard ‘Round The World.”

Ishikawa’s moonshot was just the 10th homer that ended a playoff series and the first since Magglio Ordonez did it in the 2006 ALCS to send the Detroit Tigers to the World Series.

Between Thomson’s and Ishikawa’s winners, there have been a number of other memorable game-winning hits. They have given fans heartbreak and joy, depending on which side they’re on, while establishing legacies for players.
