It was a fitting ending for No. 10 Notre Dame in Saturday’s matchup against No. 9 Arizona State.
The Fighting Irish faced an uphill battle after a hot start from ASU and trailed by 24 points at halftime. Notre Dame pulled to within 10 late in the fourth quarter, but Sun Devils defensive back Lloyd Carrington ruined the comeback opportunity with the help of a lucky bounce.
Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson’s pass deflected off the chest of wide receiver Corey Robinson and into the waiting arms of Carrington, who scampered 58 yards for the score.
The pick-six sealed the 55-31 victory for Arizona State in what was a very one-sided affair.
