David KrejciWILMINGTON, Mass. — David Krejci skated before the Boston Bruins took the ice for practice Wednesday at Ristuccia Arena, but coach Claude Julien said he didn’t know if his injured center would play the next night against the Edmonton Oilers.

“Today was his first day skating,” Julien said of Krejci, who has missed two games with an undisclosed injury. “The medical part of it is what we have to deal with. I haven’t gone there yet to ask him how he’s going.”

Julien also said he’d want Krejci in the lineup Thursday if he’s ready, even though the Bruins have only one game scheduled between now and Monday.

Chris Kelly skated with Milan Lucic and Seth Griffith on the top line. Kelly has been in that spot for the last two games.

These were the lines and pairings used in practice:

Milan Lucic-Chris Kelly-Seth Griffith
Brad Marchand-Patrice Bergeron-Reilly Smith
Loui Eriksson-Carl Soderberg-Matt Fraser
Daniel Paille-Gregory Campbell-Simon Gagne

Dougie Hamilton-Dennis Seidenberg
Adam McQuaid-Joe Morrow
Zach Trotman-David Warsofsky

Tuukka Rask or Niklas Svedberg

— Injured defensemen Torey Krug and Kevan Miller also skated before practice.

— The Providence Bruins have a new captain.

— Veteran winger Simon Gagne has struggled to produce offensively on the fourth line. He has scored only one goal in 10 games for the Bruins and hasn’t found the back of the net in his last eight contests.

“That fourth line (Tuesday night) was very average. … I’ll say it again, I think his skating is coming around pretty good,” Julien said. “His hands usually will follow after that. Right now, I don’t think his hands are where they should be. But that should follow if he keeps working hard and competing.”
