Tom Brady and Bill Belichick met with the media Thursday, and hardly anything was cleared up about DeflateGate.
Both the New England Patriots quarterback and head coach denied responsibility for the controversy, both saying they didn’t know about it until Monday. Brady also revealed that the NFL hasn’t even contacted him as part of its investigation.
To further cloud the issue, Indianapolis Colts linebacker D’Qwell Jackson, who says he didn’t snitch on the Patriots in the AFC Championship Game, told NFL Media’s Jeff Darlington on Thursday that Brady was using a Colts football at the end of the first half Sunday night.
Jackson spoke to an official, who said they couldn’t locate a usable football during a TV timeout when the Patriots had the ball. Later in the first half, Jackson noticed that the Patriots were using Colts footballs.
Jackson told Darlington that he thought it was odd that the Patriots couldn’t find a football to use during the AFC Championship Game.
Brady Thursday said the Patriots provided 12 game footballs and 12 more backup balls for the game.
It’s impossible to know what this means until the NFL has concluded its investigation, which seems to be taking longer than any investigation into two pounds per square inch of air pressure should.
