When Boston College and Boston University meet, you might as well just wipe the slate clean.

The No. 17 Eagles proved that once again Friday night, jumping out to a three-goal lead and holding on to upset the No. 2 Terriers 4-2 on the road at Agganis Arena. BC (13-7-2) now has won four of its last five games against BU (12-4-4).

The Eagles capitalized on two Terrier penalties to get on the board early, as defenseman Noah Hanifin scored on a 5-on-3 man-advantage less than seven minutes into the first period.

Freshman forward Alex Tuch kept the momentum going for BC, scoring late in the first period and adding another goal on a 5-on-3 power play at the 13:23 mark of the second period.

BU wouldn’t go down without a fight, as goals from Danny O’Regan and Matt Lane cut BC’s lead to one goal. In the game’s final minute, though, Eagles forward Zach Sanford scored on an empty net from inside his own blue line to seal the victory.

Both teams will be back in action Sunday, as the Eagles travel to Maine to take on the Black Bears while the Terriers host No. 6 UMass-Lowell.
