Hope Solo and Jerramy Stevens should have used a designated driver Monday morning … or at least another vehicle.

Solo was suspended from the United States women’s national soccer team for 30 days Thursday, and now we know why. Stevens was driving the national team van in Los Angeles when police pulled him over and arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, according to TMZ and Sports Illustrated.

The U.S. Soccer Federation didn’t specify why it suspended Solo, saying only that she “made a poor decision that has resulted in a negative impact on U.S. Soccer and her teammates.”

Stevens’ bail was set at $5,000 and he is scheduled to appear in Los Angeles Superior Court on March 19, according to USA TODAY.

Solo, 33, will miss the remainder of Team USA’s training camp and upcoming games against France (on Feb. 8) and England (Feb. 13).

Solo will step away from the national team for one month. She apologized and promised to be fit and focused when she returns.

Team USA is preparing for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada. It begins group play on June 8 and is among the favorites to win the tournament, which concludes on July 5.
