The new year kicked off with another incredible college football bowl game. We’re talking, of course, about the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl.

Friday’s midday matchup between Houston and Pittsburgh proved to be the wildest bowl game to date. It didn’t look that way with five minutes to go, though, when the PanthersĀ held a comfortable 21-point lead. Yet in a matter of minutes,Ā the Cougars clawed their way back and cut that lead to one when Deontay Greenberry caught a 25-yard pass from quarterback Greg Ward Jr.

Houston thenĀ succeeded where Central Michigan failed and capped theĀ amazing comeback by converting a bold two-point play to seal aĀ 35-34 win.

The Cougars managed to score three touchdowns in less than three minutes. How? By recovering two onside kicks in a row and promptly scoring touchdowns after both.

Houston trailed 31-6 in theĀ fourth quarterĀ before staging its incredible run. The win was the largestĀ comeback in an FBS game this season and the third-largest comeback ever in a bowl game.

To be fair, Pitt probably should have seen the lossĀ comingĀ when it made this guy the team’s kicker.
