It’s no secret that celebrities don’t like talking to TMZ, but Michael Sam might have figured out the best way to get around it.
Sam reportedly got engaged to his longtime boyfriend Vito Cammisano in January, but the free-agent defensive end hasn’t confirmed the news yet. So when a TMZ cameraman asked him about possible wedding bells, Sam decided to have some fun by making a few “Game of Thrones” references.
“I was planning on getting married in Westeros,” Sam told the cameraman, referring to the fictional continent from the book and television series.
Luckily for Sam — and for the rest of us — the cameraman had zero clue what he was talking about, so he was able to continue the front while the reporter tried to figure out whe was talking about.
“We really don’t know where it is,” Sam said. “But that’s where I want to go. That’s where Vito wants to go. Hopefully Daenerys gets her ass there real soon. Been about six books that she’s not in there at Westeros, so hopefully she gets there soon.”
TMZ, to its credit, also thought Sam’s joke was hilarious.
“Michael Sam just dominated a TMZ photog at LAX like he was The Mountain … and we were Oberyn Martell … Last time we send Hodor out in the field,” the site said Tuesday.
