Bears Lineman: Jay Cutler Can Be Better Than Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers

Chicago Bears fans aren’t too happy with Jay Cutler, but the quarterback received the ultimate endorsement from one of his offensive linemen.

Cutler was benched for Week 16 this season after leading his team to a 5-9 record while throwing 18 interceptions, and not only are the Bears expected to keep him in 2015, but left guard Matt Slauson thinks Cutler has the potential to be the best quarterback in the NFL.

“I have every confidence in (Cutler) — his ability, his intelligence,” Slauson told WGN radio last week. “The guy can be the best in the league. We just have to do a better job, as a team, supporting him. We didn’t do a very good job of that last year.”

Then, Slauson proved that it is indeed possible to go a little overboard in supporting your teammate.

“Jay can be every bit of a Tom Brady, a Peyton Manning, an Aaron Rodgers,” Slauson said. “He can be them, if not more.”

Now that’s a burning hot take.

Sure, Cutler is far from the worst starting quarterback out there, and some of his struggles likely stemmed from Chicago’s reported locker room issues, but we’re going to hold off from mentioning him in the same sentence as Brady, Manning and Rodgers for a while.
