Going to an Arizona Diamondbacks game has never been sweeter.

We’ve seen our fair share of crazy concession foods at professional sports venues, but Arizona’s Chase Field upped the ante Wednesday when it unveiled the Churro Dog.

That’s one heck of a mid-inning snack.

This terrific treat, which will sell for $8.50 and is estimated to have 1,117 calories, is a warm cinnamon churro housed in a Long John chocolate-glazed donut and topped with whipped cream, caramel and chocolate sauces and frozen yogurt. You know, because ice cream would be too unhealthy.

The concoction was the brainchild of team chef Michael Snoke, who says dessert items are popular in Arizona’s hot climate. As for the decision to use frozen yogurt instead of ice cream? Snoke stands by it.

“Chef Snoke thought it tasted better than ice cream,” team CEO Derrick Hall told ESPN.com. “Plus, using frozen yogurt is easier to execute on the spot at the game.”

Not surprisingly, the Churro Dog drew plenty of attention, especially from Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson, who might be stopping by for a sample at some point this summer.

The D’Backs sold an 18-inch stuffed corn dog last season, so they’re certainly not new to the novelty food game. But does the Churro Dog take the cake as one of the most bizarre concessions ever? That’s for you to decide.
