Philippe Coutinho loves scoring for Liverpool against Manchester City.

Coutinho scored a spectacular, long-range goal Sunday in Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Manchester City. Coutinho’s strike was his second game-winning goal in as many Premier League games against Manchester City at Anfield. It also follows up the stunning goal he scored last week against Southampton.

The game was tied 1-1 in the 75th minute when Coutinho received the ball near the edge of Manchester City’s penalty area, turned and hit a curling shot past goalkeeper Joe Hart into the top corner of the goal.

The goal was Coutinho’s fifth in 39 games (in all competitions) this season and his third in his last seven games.

Coutinho scored the game-winning goal last April in Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over Manchester City in a crunch Premier League game at Anfield.┬áCoutinho now has scored three goals in four games against Manchester City since joining Liverpool from Inter Milan in January 2013.

Earlier, Jordan Henderson scored a spectacular opening goal for Liverpool in the first half. Edin Dzeko leveled the score for Manchester City before the interval.

Liverpool’s win strengthened its own top-four hopes. The Reds now are tied with Arsenal for fourth place with 48 points after 27 games.

The Reds also dented Manchester City’s hopes of retaining its Premier League title. Manchester City now trails league leader Chelsea by five points after 27 games. Chelsea has played one fewer game than Manchester City, which only has 11 games remaining in the league campaign.
