Kentucky Derby 2015 Post Position: American Pharoah Draws No. 18 Spot

The Kentucky Derby post position is set, and it’s good news for the favorites, who avoided the dreaded No. 1 position.

American Pharoah, the favorite to win the Derby at 9-4 odds, drew the No. 18 starting position for Saturday’s Run for the Roses. Dortmund, who like American Pharoah is trained by Bob Baffert, will start from the No. 8 spot at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky.

Carpe Diem, the third choice, will start from the No. 2 position.
