You have to admire Byron Maxwell’s confidence.

The Philadelphia Eagles — the defensive back’s new team — have never won a Super Bowl despite having played in two, most recently in a 24-21 loss to the New England Patriots in the 2004 season. But Maxwell, a veteran of two Super Bowls with the Seattle Seahawks, is pretty confident the Eagles will reach Super Bowl 50 — so much so that he guaranteed it in an interview with MMQB.com’s Jenny Vrentas.

“You can take that as a guarantee,” Maxwell said. “That’s just me believing in my team and the product we’re going to put out there on the field. I really do believe that. I have no choice but to think that way.”

The Eagles didn’t make the playoffs last season despite finishing 10-6. Signing a defensive back of Maxwell’s caliber should help Philly improve defensively and possibly return to the playoffs, but advancing to the Super Bowl will be difficult because the Seahawks and Green Bay Packers still are the top two teams in the NFC.
