David Ortiz has a new spot in the Boston Red Sox’s lineup.
With the club trying to bounce back from a 7-2 Memorial Day loss to the Minnesota Twins, the Red Sox have once again shaken up the batting order Tuesday, and that includes dropping Ortiz into the five hole. Ortiz is having a rough season so far, as he’s batting an un-Papi-like .221 with a .694 OPS.
Third baseman Pablo Sandoval will slide into Ortiz’s usual No. 3 spot in the order.
Rusney Castillo also returns to the Red Sox’s lineup after Daniel Nava played right field in his place Monday. Castillo is hitting .250 (3-for-12) in three games this season and will bat eighth.
Clay Buchholz will be on the mound at Target Field for Boston as he looks to continue a streak of three straight quality starts, though only one of those outings resulted in a win for the right-hander. He gave up just two runs over 7 1/3 innings against the Texas Rangers in his last start, but Boston lost 3-1.
