Jets Draft Pick Leonard Williams Wants Tom Brady To Be His First Career Sack

It took a matter of moments for the newest New York Jet to turn his attention to the rival New England Patriots.

The Jets bolstered their pass rush Thursday night when they took defensive end Leonard Williams with the No. 6 pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. The USC product wasted no time in devoting attention toward the Patriots, more specifically quarterback Tom Brady.

“I know that’s a big rivalry. … They have a lot of pictures up of Brady around the complex,” Williams told reporters at the draft in Chicago, per ESPN.com. “I’m looking forward to a great matchup against (Brady). I hope that he is my first sack of my career, against Tom Brady.”

This is something of a new tradition for Jets rookies. Last season, it was Calvin Pryor who hit the ground running with his Patriots hate.

“We don’t like Tom at all,” Pryor told reporters at the time. “When I first came here, that was one of the first things I heard about: We hate the Patriots and we hate the Giants.”

As for Williams’ comments, he might want to set his sights a little higher. Not that sacking Brady wouldn’t be a big deal for a rookie like Williams, but the Jets and Patriots don’t play until Week 7. We’re thinking the Jets probably want to see production from Williams a little earlier than halfway through the season.
