The New England Patriots reportedly hosted a veteran defensive back for the second consecutive day Wednesday.

The Patriots worked out free-agent safety/special teamer C.J. Spillman, ESPN.com’s Mike Reiss reported. The Patriots hosted cornerback Tarell Brown on a visit Tuesday, according to Reiss.

Spillman began his career with the San Diego Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of Marshall in 2009. He also has spent time with the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys.

Spillman played in 16 games with the Cowboys last season, recording 16 tackles. He received just 76 snaps on defense.
