While Celtics fans would love to see Paul Pierce finish out his career in Boston, many seem to think that won’t be the case.

There’s reportedly a belief around the NBA that Pierce will opt out of his final season with the Washington Wizards to play for the Los Angeles Clippers, NBA.com’s David Aldridge reported Monday. The move would reunite Pierce with his former coach Doc Rivers and would bring him back to Los Angeles County, where he spent his formative years growing up in Inglewood, Calif.

The Clips could have picked up Pierce this past offseason but gave a full mid-level exception to power forward Spencer Hawes.

Still, there’s also a possibility that the league could have seen the last of the Truth, as Pierce said after the Wizards’ second-round playoff exit that he’s mulling retirement.
