Olivier Giroud’s goal-scoring struggles carried into the new Premier League season, but the Arsenal striker now has taken flight.

Giroud scored a fine, scissor-kick goal Sunday in Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League. The goal was Giroud’s first of 2015-16, and he will have a hard time topping it in subsequent goals.

Giroud put Arsenal up 1-0 in the 16th minute when he volleyed home Mesut Ozil’s delivery into the Crystal Palace penalty area.

Giroud’s personal goal drought in the Premier League stretched nearly seven full games, but he ended it at Selhurst Park — a venue in which he has enjoyed considerable success.

Arsenal reportedly is considering signing a new striker (Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema has been linked with the Gunners recently), but Giroud, 28, said Saturday he can fire the Gunners to their 2015-16 targets.

Apparently, Giroud wasn’t kidding.
