The New England Patriots bid farewell to 10 players Friday, and they also updated their Rolodex by reportedly bringing in eight players for tryouts.

The Patriots worked out wide receivers Nathan Palmer and Marquez Clark, fullbacks Joe Don Duncan and Joey Iosefa, defensive ends Derrick Lott and Lawrence Okoye, defensive tackle Jimmy Staten and quarterback Jeff Tuel, ESPN’s Mike Reiss reported Friday.

Okoye is a former British Olympic discus thrower. He was signed by the San Francisco 49ers in August 2013. He spent the 2013 season on injured reserve and the 2014 season on the practice squad.

Okoye was waived by the 49ers on Aug. 31. The 6-foot-6, 304-pound athlete recorded four quarterback pressures and one QB hit this preseason, according to Pro Football Focus.
