When you picture a three-day stay at a Nevada brothel, quiet nights watching movies and ordering out for KFC probably aren’t the first images that come to mind.

That’s exactly the sort of activity Lamar Odom engaged in during his fateful visit to Dennis Hof’s Love Ranch, though, according to those who spent the weekend with the former NBA star.

As a few brothel workers told ESPN.com’s Ramona Shelburne, a “shy” and “sweet” Odom spent his time with prostitutes cooking dinner and talking — in addition to the other things, obviously, that led to him being found unconscious in his suite.

“When people hear about three- or four-day benders, they imagine running up and down hallways naked and swinging from chandeliers and stuff,” Richard Hunter, a manager at the brothel, told Shelburne. “There was nothing erratic or wild about his behavior. He was very polite, just sort of reserved and shy or whatever.”

Odom reportedly watched “Interstellar” and “Mad Max: Fury Road” with a couple of women who went by the stage names Ryder Cherry and Monica Monroe. He opened up to workers about his childhood and his marriage to Khloe Kardashian but asked to sleep alone.

In other words, while Odom’s trip to the brothel included its fair share of sex, the experience as recounted by the brothel staff comes across as more sad than anything. The whole story is lengthy, but the entire thing is worth a read.
