It looks like the Boston Bruins have found Tuukka Rask’s backup.

The Bruins signed Jonas Gustavsson to a one-year, one-way contract for the 2015-16 season worth $700,000, the team announced Sunday.

Gustavsson, 30, joined the Bruins on a professional tryout (PTO) during training camp. He previously appeared in 41 games for the Detroit Red Wings from 2012 to 2015, and owns a career 60-55-21 record with a 2.89 goals against average and .901 save percentage in 148 NHL games.

Given his new contract, it appears that Gustavsson has beaten Jeremy Smith for the backup goalie role, though no formal announcement regarding the matter has been made. The two also were in competition with youngsters Malcolm Subban and Zane McIntyre, who were sent to Providence Bruins camp earlier in the preseason.
