Andrew Luck won’t start for the Indianapolis Colts for the second consecutive week, and the team probably should have seen it coming.

The Colts quarterback will sit out Thursday night’s matchup against the Houston Texans with right shoulder soreness, and ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen wrote that Indy’s lack of attention to its offensive line should take a lot of the blame. And they have a very good point.

As Schefter and Mortensen note, the Colts’ O-line has had trouble keeping Luck on his feet since he was selected first overall in the 2012 draft. In that span, Luck has been hit while attempting passes 90 times, which is the most in the NFL. The Colts also have spent the fourth-least in the league on their offensive line since 2012 and constantly are changing their line combinations.

There’s no doubt Luck is a great young quarterback, but even the best signal-callers will falter if the guys in front of them can’t keep them upright. And in Luck’s case, it’s taking a toll on his body.
