Players often say that they support their coach, but few actually go to the lengths the guys on the OHL’s Flint Firebirds reportedly did Sunday.

According to multiple reports, the Firebirds players quit after the entire coaching staff was fired following Sunday’s win.

The Firebirds had not tweeted anything about the alleged situation since it was reported, and their Facebook page is unavailable as of late Monday morning. It’s unclear whether the players will suit up for Friday’s game.

Sportsnet’s Jeff Marek tweeted Sunday night the situation had been described to him as a “stalemate.”

The Firebirds’ problems haven’t been limited to off the ice. They currently sit at the bottom of the West division with 15 points (7-9-0-1). Only three teams have a worse record in the OHL.
