FOXBORO, Mass. — The New England Patriots already were in the holiday sprit on Christmas Eve Eve at Gillette Stadium.

Even head coach Bill Belichick, who could be compared to The Grinch or Scrooge at times, had time for some light-hearted questions.

Here’s one exchange between a reporter and Belichick:

“Bill, happy holidays. I know we’re all trying to spread cheer here, but based on some of the things your team has been through in 2015, would it be OK with you if Santa Claus wrote you a letter to tell you he threw a couple of the names of the men who run the league and their lawyers on the naughty list this year?”

BB: “I’ll leave Santa Claus and his list to the elves.”

Belichick also was asked if he likes candy canes.

“I’m not a hard candy guy, no,” Belichick replied. “Why, was that going to be a gift?”

And for those wondering, Patriots cornerback Malcolm Butler’s favorite Christmas movie is “Home Alone.”
