FOXBORO, Mass. — The New England Patriots’ All-Pro tight end was back on the practice field Thursday.

Rob Gronkowski returned to practice after missing four consecutive sessions. Gronkowski had a brace on his right knee as he went through warmups. He injured his knee in Week 12 against the Denver Broncos. The Patriots announced he has a knee sprain and bone bruise.

Gronkowski’s status for Sunday night’s matchup with the Houston Texans currently is up in the air, though ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported earlier this week he’s not expected to play.

Safety Patrick Chung also returned to practice. He missed Wednesday’s session with a foot injury.

Wide receiver Julian Edelman was the lone absence from Thursday’s practice. He continues to rehab a broken foot suffered in Week 11 against the New York Giants.

Cornerback Rashaan Melvin took fellow defensive back Chris Greenwood’s spot on the practice squad.
