Tom Brady and Peyton Manning led their teams against one another for the 17th time Sunday, and the Denver Broncos’ victory over the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game rekindled the “Who’s the greatest quarterback of all time?” debate.
Manning is headed to Super Bowl 50, but Brady’s 11-6 record in their head-to-head matchups and four Super Bowl rings allow him to retain the edge in Brady vs. Manning for at least another season.
Many other contenders for the “best-ever QB” title have played in the modern era. Familiar names like Brett Favre and Joe Montana remain among the all-time greats, perhaps forever.
But it’s time to settle the debate as we near the conclusion of another fascinating season. NESN.com put the question to 10 members of its digital staff, with each voter submitting a ballot of his or her top 10.
Weighing the votes with 10 points for a first-place vote, nine points for a second-place vote, etc., and then tallying the points, NESN.com compiled the definitive list of the top 10 quarterbacks in NFL history.
