Alshon Jeffery isn’t going anywhere right now.

The Chicago Bears announced Monday that they’ve used their franchise tag on Jeffery, meaning the wide receiver now is slated to remain with the team for at least one more season at $14.599 million.

Multiple reports said Jeffery and the Bears have discussed a long-term contract, though it’s unclear how close the sides came in their negotiations before Chicago decided to use the franchise tag ahead of Tuesday’s deadline.

Jeffery is coming off a season in which he missed seven games, but there’s no denying the 26-year-old’s impact on Chicago’s offense when he’s healthy. He caught 54 passes for 807 yards last season despite the missed time. And he totaled 174 receptions, 2,544 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns over the previous two seasons, even earning a Pro Bowl selection for his sensational 2013 campaign.

Jeffery ranks 10th on the Bears’ all-time receiving list in catches (252), eighth in yards (3,728) and 11th in touchdowns (24).
