Roger Goodell Earnings: NFL Commish Took Paycut In 2014, But He’ll Be OK

Roger Goodell made roughly $10 million less in 2014 than he did in 2012 — and his reported 2014 salary probably still will make you want to vomit.

ESPN’s Darren Rovell reported Tuesday, citing tax filings by the NFL, that the league’s commissioner made $34.1 million in 2014. That’s actually a fairly sharp decrease from the reported $44 million Goodell made in 2012. His 2014 salary is also still a drop-off from 2013 when he reportedly made a more modest $35 million in 2013.

That $44 million figure was sharply criticized and even raised the eyebrows of President Barack Obama during the NFL’s multiple scandals over the last couple of years.

Being the commissioner has proved to be pretty profitable for Goodell, who, according to Rovell, has made $180.5 million in his first nine years at the helm.

It’s also worth noting that the NFL’s lead counsel, Jeff Pash, was the league’s second-highest paid employee in 2014, according to Rovell. Pash made $7.51 million, according to Rovell. It’s important to note, especially when talking about Pash, that these figures are referencing 2014. You have to wonder how much more Pash ended up making in 2015, especially given the seemingly never-ending Deflategate saga that’s included multiple court dates.

Good work if you can get it.
