Della Meredith does to wooden slabs what J.J. Watt does to opposing offenses: Carve them up. The only difference? Meredith uses a chainsaw.

The Texas artist began her own wood-carving business a few years ago after working as an art teacher, and recently received a custom request for a replica of the Houston Texans’ 6-foot-5 defensive end.

She took on the challenge and, as the evidence below shows, succeeded to the same extent as the two-time defending Defensive Player of the Year she was creating. The final product took five days to make, is five feet tall and weighs 80 pounds.

Watt’s arms were too big, though, and because Meredith wanted them to be as realistic as possible she created them separately and attached them to the final product, she told KPRC2.

“I think J.J. Watt is inspirational,” Meredith told KPRC2. “He’s an awesome player. He always takes time to notice the children, and he’s a good role model for kids. He has really good work ethic and that was motivating to me to do this piece.”

Meredith also told the Houston Chronicle that she hoped Watt might catch wind of her creation, and it appears he not only did but also is a fan.

We’re sure the other 31 NFL teams are happy Watt can’t use a chainsaw in his work, too.
